Cedar Springs is dedicated to providing the best selection of Bibles, Christian books, music, videos and gift items in East Tennessee (and anywhere, for that matter).

The Early Years

In 1976, Curtis and Lois McGinnis decided that a Christian bookstore was needed in West Knoxville. In October of that year, they opened a small, 1600 square foot, Christian Bookstore in the Cedar Springs Shopping Center located at the intersection of Kingston Pike and Cedar Bluff Road. Evelyn Sutherland (Curtis'''' sister) and Diane Parker (former music director at Grace Baptist Church) were the store''''s first two employees. Curtis began his retail workday after completing a day of work as a machinist at Y-12 plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Together, Curtis and Lois learned the ropes of the Christian industry and learned how to provide Christian products for a growing community. Their 15 year old daughter, Vicki jumped right into the store with her first job.

Recent History

Today, that small Christian store has grown to 10 times its original size. With over 16,000 square feet of Christian products, Cedar Springs West Knoxville is one of the largest Independent Christian Bookstores in the nation.

Cedar Springs currently serves the Knoxville/Oak Ridge Tennessee area with 3 locations; the main store in West Knoxville, and satellite stores in North Knoxville and Oak Ridge.

As far as family; Curtis is still at the helm, Lois has since retired and serves the National Kidney Foundation of East Tennessee (has served as President), Vicki has been and still is the gift buyer for the stores and their son Link (that''''s me) works in the stores with all things computer-related (or everything that has a plug - I''''ve been told).

Cedar Springs enjoys a much extended family in the fact that there are around 100 employees who work very hard to make your experience at Cedar Springs the best it can possibly be. And, we believe they are among the best in the country!
