What do you want most in the world?

Anne Marie Roche wants to find happiness again. At 38 her life’s not what she’d expected—she’s childless, a recent widow, alone. She owns a successful bookstore on Seattle’s Blossom Street, but despite her accomplishments, there’s a feeling of emptiness.

On Valentine’s Day, Anne Marie and several other widows get together to celebrate…what? Hope, possibility, the future. They each begin a list of twenty wishes, things they always wanted to do but never did.

Anne Marie’s list starts with: Find one good thing about life. It includes learning to knit, doing good for someone else, falling in love again. She begins to act on her wishes and when she volunteers at a local school, an eight-year-old girl named Ellen enters her life. It’s a relationship that becomes far more involving than Anne Marie intended. It also becomes far more important than she ever imagined.

As Ellen helps Anne Marie complete her list of twenty wishes, they both learn that wishes can come true—but not necessarily in the way you expect.

As millions of women know, Debbie Macomber understands their lives and writes the stories they want to read.

Meet The Author
Debbie Macomber, author of the number one New York Times bestseller 74 Seaside Avenue as well as Back on Blossom Street, A Good Yarn, Susannah’s Garden and 6 Rainier Drive, has become a leading voice in women’s fiction worldwide. Her work has appeared on every major bestseller list, including those of the New York Times, USA TODAY and Publishers Weekly. She is a multiple award winner, and won the 2005 Quill Award for Best Romance. There are more than 100 million copies of her books in print.

Dear Friends,

I wish I may, I wish I might…

Everyone can finish that line because everyone has wishes. From the time I was a child gazing up at the starlit sky, I’ve held wishes close to my heart. I knew that at some point in my writing career I’d write a book about making wishes—and seeing them come true. So I’m so excited to tell you about Twenty Wishes.

Anne Marie Roche, the owner of Blossom Street Books, is a thirty-eight year old widow, and it seems that all her dreams died with her husband. She connects with a group of other widows and they start talking about the things they once wished for, things they wanted to do, places they wanted to visit, the desires of their hearts that they’d shoved into the future, the way so many of us do. Right then and there, on Valentine’s Day, a day for love and romance, they each decide to make a list of twenty wishes.

Like Anne Marie and her friends, I have my own list of wishes. I want to blow bubbles with my grandchildren and chase butterflies. I want to walk along the beach with my husband and find treasure—and my guess is that treasure will be something unexpected…which is just the way it happens for Anne Marie and her friends.

You probably realize that Twenty Wishes is a Blossom Street book, and if you’ve read The Shop on Blossom Street and its two sequels, you’ll recognize some of the characters—like Lydia, Susannah and Alix—who make “guest appearances” in Twenty Wishes. I want to mention that the paperback of the third Blossom Street book, Back on Blossom Street, is being released in late March.

My wish is that you’ll enjoy Twenty Wishes and that Anne Marie and her friends will live on in your minds long after the final page is turned.
